Availability and Affordability of Medicines for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease across Countries: Information Learned from the Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiological Study

The global burden of diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) is increasing and, while event incidence falling in some high-income countries (HICs), rates are being observed many middle-income (MICs) low-income (LICs). There have been discrepancies the availability affordability medicines for among countries, which LICs MICs seen low affordability. Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiological (PURE) study a large prospective cohort over 200,000 people aged 35–70 years from 27 HICs, MICs, across six geographical regions (Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, North Middle East). Analyses this contributed greatly to understanding determinants cardio–metabolic health especially. Here, we discuss information learned PURE regarding key disease.
